Free Ride

(Acrylics: 24X36)

Free Ride

A televised news story of a noted individaul set me to thinking of people. There are some that are born into a well-established family complete with an impressive family tree. They are often described as having been born with a silver spoon in their mouth. The individuals born into such a family have many benefits, upward mobility boosts, finances are more than adequate. Others are not as fortunate to have been born into such a family . For those less fortunate, those with all the breaks are seen as having a Free Ride. Some of the fortunate ones go on to live famous and/or successful lives while the less fortunate hold down regular jobs working hard trying to find the opening to fame and/or success. Some of the fortunate ones fall by the wayside for whatever reason but they are still well off due to their family. Among the rest, there are some that do find fame and/or success but it is not a free ride for them. It must be just the breaks of life, the Free Ride. But in the end, it all comes down to the same ending whether anyone had a free ride or not. It is just a matter time, of living, until time runs out for everyone. This painting is what my mind's eye saw as I thought of those with a Free Ride and those without it. Those who are fortunate have more of a Free Ride than the majority in the USA or for that matter the world's population.
